Tree Preservation The Environmental Coordinator reviewed the revised plans and comments are in the attached memo. There are 2186 onsite trees and 1783 are being saved. Of the 403 being removed, 336 are shown to be exempt from mitigation due to species, basic use area or undesirable trees. Landscaping Also from the Environmental Board staff report, boulevard trees are required at the rate of one (1) tree per lot frontage for single family and two-family lots. Townhomes and multi-family properties require one tree per 70 feet of linear feet of road frontage. Open areas shall be landscaped to meet requirements of 1 large tree and 2 large shrubs per 2500 SF. Open space calculations shall be provided. Landscape screening and buffers are installed along CSAH 54/20th Street. Buffer screening and berming meet the city’s 6’ height requirement from the low point of foundation. Staff Comments: 1.Landscape Plan shall include a more detailed cross section showing townhome, berm, landscaping and fence. a.The fence appears to be a bottom of berm and does not provide much screening. 2.Landscape Plan shall include Screen Fence details and shall be low maintenance. EQB Environmental Review The development is in the I-35E Corridor Alternative Urban Areawide Review (AUAR) which was completed in 2005 and subsequently updated through 2025. All development within the study area must comply with the AUAR mitigation plan. The Environmental Coordinator is reviewing the AUAR mitigation checklist to determine compliance. 19
