•
COUNCIL MINUTES APRIL 22, 2002
Proclamation Declaring May 15, 2002 to be Peace Officers' Memorial Day and the Week of
May 15 to be "Police Week" in the City of Lino Lakes, Chief Pecchia — Chief Pecchia stated
Police Week was designed to recognize the service given by the men and women who, night and day,
selflessly stand guard in our communities to safeguard the lives and property of their fellow
Americans. On October 1, 1062, President John F. Kennedy, proclaimed May 15 of each year as
Peace Officers' Memorial Day and the calendar week of each year during which May 15 occurs as
Police Week.
Staff is requesting that Council acknowledge and read the proclamation in support of designating May
12 to May 18, 2002, as Police Week, and May 15 as Peace Officers' Memorial Day in the City of
Lino Lakes.
Chief Pecchia read the proclamation and recommended the Council approve it in support of Police
Week and Peace Officer's Memorial Day.
Councilmember O'Donnell moved to approve the proclamation designating May 12 to May 18, 2002,
as Police Week. Councilmember Dahl seconded the motion.
Councilmember Carlson amended the motion to include the approval of May 15 as Peace Officers'
Memorial Day in the City of Lino Lakes.
• Councilmember O'Donnell and Councilmember Dahl agreed to the amendment of the motion.
•
Motion carried unanimously.
Mayor Bergeson asked Chief Pecchia to convey from the Council their personal thanks to all of the
Police Officers.
PUBLIC SERVICES DEPARTMENT REPORT, RICK DEGARDNER
There was no Public Services Department report.
COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT REPORT
Consider Resolution No. 02 — 34, Denying CUP, Bald Eagle Contracting, Jeff Smyser — City
Planner Smyser advised Dave Biese of Bald Eagle Construction has submitted an application for a
conditional use permit (CUP) for outdoor storage. He wishes to move his construction business to the
site and store vehicles outdoors, such as trucks and a construction trailer.
The current application does not include a site plan review. Typically, a CUP application such as this
would be accompanied by complete site plan information. It is staff's understanding that the
applicant wanted to find out if the outdoor storage was possible before committing to designing the
building, grading, utilities, and other elements.
6
