2. LOCAL BUSINESS RETENTION PROGRAM <br />1999 REVIEW On -going communications with businesses known to be considering <br />expanding or relocating continued in 1999 to encourage growing <br />businesses to stay in Lino Lakes. Molin Concrete completed its <br />expansion. Staff participates in Metro North Chamber of Commerce <br />and Lino Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce events designed to <br />support businesses in the Quad communities. <br />PURPOSE: <br />To provide an atmosphere of support and recognition of local <br />business and industry's contribution to Lino Lakes and to <br />encourage growth within the City. <br />TIME FRAME: Annual <br />ASSIGNED TO: EDAC Board and Economic Development staff <br />STRATEGY: 1. Continue initiating regular contact with businesses in Lino Lakes <br />to develop a positive public/private relationship. <br />2. Evaluate the potential for moving incompatible existing <br />businesses located within the Town Center to compatible sites <br />within Lino Lakes. <br />3. Continue updating the computerized inventory of existing <br />businesses for on -going communications. <br />4. Work with the local media to publicize achievements and <br />contributions of local businesses within the community. <br />5. Work with the local Chambers of Commerce to provide additional <br />support to local businesses. <br />PROJECTED RESULTS: <br />The program is expected to enhance communication between <br />local businesses and the City to produce a positive business <br />climate, support growth and retain industry within the City. Acting <br />as a partner with local business will enhance the City's reputation <br />for being receptive to quality economic development. <br />11 <br />
