AGENDA ITEM NO. 6A
STAFF ORIGINATOR: Rick DeGardner, Public Services Director
COUNCIL MEETING DATE: December 18, 2000
TOPIC: Consideration of Resolution 00 -126, Accepting
Cooperative Trail Grant From the DNR in the Amount
of $30,000
VOTE REQUIRED: Simple Majority
BACKGROUND:
The purpose of the Cooperative Trail Linkage grant program is to provide trail
connections between where people live and desirable locations. The City of Lino Lakes
submitted an application on February 24, 1999 to provide trail connections between
existing residential areas to the 2,500 acre Rice Creek Chain of Lakes Regional Park
Reserve.
On August 3, 1999 the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources informed the City
• of Lino Lakes that the Grant Application was approved by the Legislative Commission of
Minnesota Resources (LCMR) on August 3, 1999. The grant award was in the amount
of $30,000.
In order to continue with the steps necessary to receive the grant award, the City
Council must approve a resolution accepting the grant in the amount of the award as
partial funding for the trails project. The matching requirement must also be recognized.
Finally, the fiscal agent for the grant award must be designated.
Resolution 00 -126 acknowledges the City Council's acceptance of the $30,000 grant,
recognizes the matching requirement, and designates myself as the fiscal agent.
OPTIONS:
1. Approve Resolution 00 -126.
2. Do not approve Resolution 00 -126.
3. Return to staff for further review.
RECOMMENDATION:
Option 1
•
12/13/00
RD /Corr /Council /greensheet/dnr grant accept
