Some areas of volunteerism that citizens
assist the police department are: Crime Prevention, Police Records,
Investigation, Computer Technology, Equipment and/or Special
Programs/Projects. In 2006 volunteers assisted in many of the areas
noted above logging in 485.5 hours. The state evaluates the
services of volunteers and according to the state a volunteer's time
is valued at a dollar amount of $18.18 per hour. Volunteers with the
Lino Lakes Police Department include reserves, chaplains,
explorers and members of the Public Safety Citizen's Commission.
These volunteers logged a total of 4631 hours in 2006 which
calculated a cost savings of $84,191.58 to the city.
Neighborhood Crime Watch Group Program
Volunteer Judy Warren
It is essential that all citizens of Lino Lakes be aware of the importance of crime prevention
programs and the impact that residents can have on reducing crime and drug
abuse in their community. IN SO
Neighbors were urged to start or join a Crime Watch group in their
neighborhood. Crime can shatter a neighborhood and create a climate of fear
and mistrust. People may withdraw into their homes. Then as isolation
increases, so does crime. Crime Watch groups learn ways to keep their homes
and neighborhoods secure. We provide a monthly newsletter "10 -8" to keep
our Neighborhood Watch Groups informed about the criminal activity in their
neighborhoods and an update on the activities of their police department.
Teens Behind the Wheel Seminar
CRIME
WATCH
The Lino Lakes Police Department offered a free seminar for families with teen drivers.
