Wearing a bulletproof vest is a policy of the Lino Lakes Police
Department while performing the duties of a patrol officer. Vests have a five year warranty.
Target Grants
We received grants from Target totaling $2,300 in support of National Night Out and Family
Violence Prevention. Target continues to support the efforts of strengthening our community and
also awarded the Lino Lakes Police Department digital video equipment that will be beneficial in
identifying youth caught in the cycle of family violence and help them get the services they need.
The digital recorders will be used for interviewing victims involved in family violence situations.
Digital recordings will assist the police department in seeking the appropriate help for needy youth
and their families. This same concept will be used as a means of obtaining a better understanding
of why youth run and what we can do as a community to reduce the likelihood of a reoccurring
event. The ultimate goal will be the prevention of family violence in our community. Target
donated $1,900 in their support of this outreach program.
Operation Night -Cap
The department again participated with other agencies within Anoka County and the Minnesota
State Patrol to conduct traffic saturation details during designated dates and times. The details
were conducted to remove impaired drivers from our streets and highways.
Safe and Sober
The department has once again joined with other agencies in Anoka County to deploy officers in an
overtime grant to enforce traffic laws. Officers from the various agencies enforced the laws in their
own jurisdictions as well as joining together to saturate each of the participating agencies
respective jurisdictions. This stepped up enforcement led to many citations as well as many arrests
for impaired driving as well as other violations of the law.
Alcohol Compliance Checks Grant
The police department was awarded a $5,000 grant from the State of Minnesota Alcohol and
Gambling Enforcement Division. The grant targets the enforcement of underage drinking laws and
alcohol compliance checks at licensed liquor establishments. Grant dollars are used for officer
salaries incurred during either the compliance checks of licensed liquor retailers or during
alternative enforcement activities; wages paid to underage purchasers participating in the
compliance checks; and "buy money" used to purchase alcohol in the compliance checks.
Lino Lakes Police Department 2006 Annual Report 17
