Mn/DOT
WSB has successfully worked on numerous projects with
Mn /DOT over the years. A recent example is the new
bridge that was constructed at TH 95 over 1 -35 in the City
of North Branch. WSB was retained by the City to design
a new four lane bridge along TH 95 with turn lanes, ramp
reconstruction, and revised signal systems. The project
included a pathway system as part of the pedestrian
enhancements and safety improvements. The bridge was
constructed in two stages to allow TH 95 to remain open
throughout construction. WSB's services included the
concept development, design of a Mn /DOT staff approved
layout, right of way, environmental documentation, and
assistance to the City in obtaining funding.
The project was very important for the community;
however, the City of North Branch was concerned
over their share of the project cost. WSB facilitated
negotiations between the City, County, and Mn /DOT that
ultimately resulted in the approval of cost participation
agreements. The City also received a cost savings, due to
the streamlined design which led to their ability to capture
stimulus funding. Based on the development of the
cost participation agreements and design initiative,
WSB was able to help make this project financially
feasible.
WSB's experience working with Mn /DOT will be invaluable
to help the City maximize their MSAS Needs funding and
facilitate future State Aid street projects in the future.
WSB
& Associates, Inc.
Rice Creek Watershed District
WSB has extensive experience working with the Rice
Creek Watershed District. One recent project WSB
completed within the RCWD is the Baldwin Park Water
Reuse System located in the City of Circle Pines. This
system was constructed to meet Rice Creek Watershed
District's infiltration requirements. The project was part
of the City of Circle Pines' 2010 Street Improvement
Program. An existing irrigation system was modified
so that stormwater runoff from a nearby pond could
be used as the primary source for irrigation water.
The system exceeds the District's rigorous infiltration
requirements for the 2010 project, and will result in
volume control "credits ", which the City can use to meet
the District's infiltration requirements on future projects.
This innovative approach facilitated retrofitting the
District's infiltration requirements into an existing
neighborhood. The system also reduces the potable
water used for irrigation by two million gallons
annually, and cost approximately $30,000 less than
a conventional infiltration system to construct.
WSB has a very strong
working relationship
with the Rice Creek
Watershed District
and a thorough un-
derstanding of their
design and permit-
ting requirements.
This background will
provide the City of
Lino Lakes with an
unequaled capability to complete new projects in innova-
tive and cost effective ways. It will also ensure the City
of Lino Lakes has the greatest opportunity to receive any
grants the watershed may be providing for special proj-
ects. Over the past few years, WSB has been able to
secure over $200,000 in grants from the RCWD for
our clients.
Related Experience
