sewer and watermain utilities as well as storm sewer to drain the roadway runoff. It is
anticipated that these utilities will not be impacted by the proposed improvements;
however, minor utility modifications, such as manhole and valve adjustments, will be
required within Lake Drive. All utilities were constructed in 1999 and are believed to be
in good condition.
The residential properties that lie adjacent to the project area are single family homes
with garages. One residential property (Parcel ID 08- 31 -22 -43 -0002) lying within the
proposed alignment will have to be acquired and the house demolished.
The existing private utilities within the roadway right -of -way consist of poles with
overhead power and underground natural gas, cable television, and telephone. It is
anticipated that some or all of the private utilities may require a relocation and
realignment.
III. PROPOSED IMPROVEMENTS
The proposed improvements for the project consist of street realignment, traffic signal
modifications, storm sewer and storm water treatment, sanitary sewer and watermain
construction. In addition, the proposed improvements will require that private property
be acquired for roadway right -of -way and for storm water treatment. Refer to the
proposed improvements exhibit located in the Appendix.
A. STREET IMPROVEMENTS
The street improvements include removing the existing 77th Street between
Marilyn Avenue and Lake Drive such that the 77th Street intersection at Lake
Drive is abandoned. The street will then be realigned from Marilyn Avenue and
extend southeast, for approximately 500 feet (0.09 mile), and connect to Lake
Drive at the intersection with Marketplace Drive. The connection of 77th Street at
the Marketplace Drive intersection will establish a four - legged intersection. The
proposed realigned street will be constructed with the 32 foot wide City Standard
street section with concrete curb and gutter. However, as the realigned street
approaches Lake Drive, it is proposed to install a 12 foot wide left turn lane which
will facilitate turning movements for vehicles approaching Lake Drive.
