We allow for modifications in their shift if needed in order to pursue a
case. Having the enhanced skills and knowledge provided by serving on
the MGSF will allow an officer to do this even better. The investigator
position within the LLPD is a rotating one where officers come off of patrol
for 24 — 36 months and serve as an investigator. Assignment to the MGSF
will give potential investigators a broader skill set to bring to the position.
As gang activity increases in the Lino Lakes area having officers familiar
with better ways to investigate crime associated with gangs and officers
that have developed contacts while with the MGSF that can be utilized by
all officers of the department will support a stronger approach to gang
related crime than we could without this association. We are currently
investigating a runaway. Having the contacts that can gather information
from the Asian gang that she is associating with allows us to better
investigate this case and increase the chances of a successful conclusion
of the case.
