The Development Regulations Task Force,
formed in 2002, consisted of one member of the City Council and two members from
each of the following: Planning & Zoning Board, Environmental Board, and Economic
Development Advisory Panel. City Staff and consultants met with the Task Force once
a month from January to November of 2002 to review city ordinances.
DRTF Recommendations
Minutes from the October 24, 2002 meeting reflect the discussion pertaining to
accessory structures. The following changes are noted in the minutes:
• Since three -car garages are becoming standard, accessory square footage should be
adjusted to accommodate this. Three car garages can be said to average 28' by 36',
or 1008 square feet. A typical storage shed can be said to average 10' by 16', or 160
square feet. Added together, these two figures total 1168 sq. ft. (1008 + 160 + 1168).
As a result, allowable accessory square footage is increased to 1200 total square feet.
