Planning&ZoningBoard December14,2005 <br />Page 8 <br />APPROVEDMINUTES <br />Mr.Pogalzaskedifstripingtheparkinglotwouldbepartofthe YMCA’sresponsibility. <br />Mr.BengtsonrepliedthattheparkinglotispartoftheYMCA’simprovements,soit <br />wouldbeappropriatefortheboardtoaddthiscondition. <br />Mr.Tralleaskedaboutthestonecaponthebrickface,andwhatwasthematerialonthe <br />ca poverthegalvanizedarea.Ms.Manionrepliedthatwasametalcornice.She described <br />thattherewillbearelieftocreateadeepshadowlinetocreatedimension.She noteditisof <br />asizeabledepththatwillbevisible. <br />Mr.Raffertyreferredtothepavi ngrequirementsonPage33oftheDesignStandards <br />guidelines.Mr.Bengtsonstatedthathebelievesthosestandardsareforspecifically <br />designatedconnectingwalkways.Thisareaisnotspecificallydesignatedassuch.The <br />boardpointedoutthetwoareast hattheyconsidertobedesignatedwalkwaysbynature of <br />theirbeing. <br />TheboardaddedConditionNo.16,requiringstripingindesignatedpedestrianwalkways. <br />TheboardaddedConditionNo.17,referringtohorizontalbandingontheprecastarea, <br />andallowin gthearchitectandstafftocomeupwithanappropriateuse. <br />Mr.Ladenrequestedfeedbackonwhetherthebasemetalonthebuildingneededtobe <br />strengthened.Mr.Hydenreferredtopage24oftheguidelines,whichspecifiesabase <br />withthickerwalls,somespecificmaterialmentioned,butnomentionofmetal. <br />Mr.Raffertyaskedthearchitecttodescribethesamplesthatwerebrought. <br />Ms.Maniondisplayedsomeofthecoloroptions.Shenotedthattheprecastmetal <br />samplesareinthe rangeofcolorsoffered,thatthesewereafirstattemptatcolor,but <br />changesneedtobemade.Theyarestillworkingoncreatingcolorsamples.Theboard <br />preferredthecolorsthatwereadeeperreddishbrown,andthosenotquitesoyellow. <br />Theyagreedth atthesamplesaretherightapproach,butwouldliketoseemoreearthy <br />tones.Theyaskedifonecolorwouldbeusedonallprecast.Ms.Manionrepliedyes. <br />Shesaidtheyareinfavorofalightercoloredbuildingasopposedtoadarkercolored <br />building.Shenotedthattheboardshouldrelyonsamplesversusrenderingswhen <br />lookingatcolor. <br />Theboardaskedwhattheawningsaremadeof.Ms.Manionrepliedtheyarean <br />aluminumpiecethatwillprojectfromthefaceofthebrick.Mr.Raffertyquestionedif th e <br />trellisdesignshouldbecontinued,asusednearthekidsarea.Ms.Maniondescribed that <br />theopeningsinthekidsareaarelarger. <br />Mr.Trallerequestedthattheyellowsamplebeeliminatedfromtheoptions.Ms.Manion <br />pointedoutthatthecolorswilllo okverydifferentoutdoors,andthattheywillcontinueto <br />workwithstafftoagreeonexactcolors. <br />Theboardsummarizedtheconditionsofapprovalfromthestaffreport,amending <br />Numbers11and13,andaddingNumbers16 –23,basedontheboardandstaff ’s <br />recommendations.
