411 Year Two (January 1 through December 31, 2007) — Outlots B and C
•
Restoration and Management Tasks
• Cattail monotypes will be chemically treated with Glyphosate and or Sethoxydim in the
spring and /or fall;
• Reed canary grass will be chemically treated with Sethoxydim grass - specific herbicide
and/or Glyphosate herbicides in the spring and /or fall (second, third, and fourth quarters),
so that the herbicide is translocated into the root systems of reed canary grass.
Monotypes of reed canary grass will be treated with a boom sprayer. Small patches of
reed canary grass will be chemically treated with Sethoxydim grass - specific herbicides,
to minimize impacts to associated native sedges and forbs. Spot treatment of reed canary
grass will be accomplished with a backpack sprayer to limit/eliminate overspray;
• Prescribed burn plans will be written and burn permits will be acquired in the first quarter
of the second year;
• Prescribed burning plan will be implemented within 11.9 acres of the conservation areas
(outlots B and C) in the early second quarter of year two (i.e. April and May), or the
fourth quarter of year two (i.e. October and November) if conditions in the spring are not
suitable to implement the prescribed burn;
• Resprouts of common buckthorn, glossy buckthorn, and Tartarian honeysuckle will be re-
cut and the biomass removed from the site. Following re- cutting, stumps will be treated
with Glyphosate and /or Triclopyr herbicides to control re- sprouting. Cutting will be
accomplished with chainsaws and brush cutters (during the third and fourth quarter of the
second year, with herbicide treatment occurring immediately following cutting);
• Residential rainwater gardens will be seeded and/or planted with appropriate native
species in the second and third quarters of the second year, following construction of the
rainwater gardens;
• Existing degraded native communities will be seeded with appropriate native seed mix
during the third and fourth quarters of the year two;
• The 1.0 acre wetland mitigation area will be monitored during second and third quarters
of the year;
• Reseeded degraded native communities will be monitored during the second through
fourth quarters of the second year;
• Known locations of endangered plant populations will be monitored during the second
and third quarters of second year;
• Conservation area boundary markers and interpretive signage will be installed during the
second or third quarter of the second year;
• A wetland mitigation monitoring report will be completed during the fourth quarter of the
second year, and;
• A qualified ecologist shall monitor grading and construction activities to ensure
compliance with the stewardship plan during site development (all quarters, year two).
The Preserve Conservation Development - Restoration and Management Plan 22
