• <br />• <br />AGENDA ITEM 3 D <br />STAFF MEMBER Daniel Tesch, Director of Administration <br />DATE 14 April 2008 <br />SUBJECT 2008 -2009 AFSCME Contract <br />VOTE REQUIRED 3/5 <br />BACKGROUND <br />The City and AFSCME — the bargaining unit representing our clerical and <br />technical employees — have been negotiating the terms and conditions of employment for <br />the past couple of months. The details of our tentative agreement include: <br />1. A two -year agreement <br />2. Annual adjustments of 3% for 2008 and 2009 <br />3. Market adjustments for 3 classes of employees <br />• Senior Coordinator (PT) 4% <br />• Community Service Officer (PT) 4% <br />• Associate Planner (1 FTE) 4% <br />4. Increase of the employers percentage of health insurance contributions by up to <br />2% depending on what happens to our rates. <br />5. Change in vacation language so that years 1 -4 are consistent with the Personnel <br />Policy <br />OPTIONS <br />1. Approve the contract with AFSCME <br />2. Not approve the contract with AFSCME. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Number One. <br />
