Business Crime Watch- _y_The goal of the Businesses Crime \\ atch is to create stronger bonds <br />between embers oflthe business community and the police, department �� ith the end•res <br />ing crime prevention. The goal of crime prevention will be achie.hed through emp]o� ee era Wing <br />on a variety of topics that-affect area businesses. In working together; all members of the Busi- <br />ness Watch will benefit from obtaining up to date information on crimes and possible criminals <br />that strike in o`ur city thro t a Business Watch Notification System. The Lino Lakes Police <br />Department partnered with several local business and conducted training in forgery ,fraud, rob- <br />bery <br />awareness and prevention and self defense. <br />Junior Citizens Academy - The third annual Junior Citiren's \cadetn■ provides instructions <br />on public safety to students at Centennial Middle School. Students learned how to [fingerprint a <br />crimescene, use of force, defensive tactics. first aid. personal protectry c clothing; fire eytin- <br />guishers,crime prevention, DWI prevention. K -9 demonstration, the Police hxp]orcrs and much <br />more; The` Junior Citizens Academy provides officers with another avenue to positively inllu- <br />ence'uveiles in our area. <br />Internship pro rare the police department increased use of interns throuLdh the de \ elopment <br />ofa'partners ps with :Metropolitan State University School of La« l nforcemcnt, Cnivcrsity of <br />Minnesota Duluth and Century College . Students benefit from getting a first hand look at all <br />the work that goes into making a police department successful. the departIOcnt benefits by re- <br />inforcing its commitment to education and the interns help create an atmosphere where progress <br />and new ideas are welcomed. <br />V'ir'tual Block Chill- The Lino Lakes Police Department developed the \Virtual Block Club <br />Which is an e -mail list that provides cornmrmicauen between the police and the community. <br />71: hepolice dep,u-tment sends out crime alerts_ crime prevention information. wanted pe rsons <br />bulletins; and other valuable infor `rtion.
