• <br />• <br />Temporary Signage <br />page 3 <br />As noted at last month's meeting, signage regulation should be content neutral. Staff will <br />re- examine the ordinance in this light. It may be better simply to allow each residential <br />property one free standing sign, which could be a "for sale" sign, a home occupation sign <br />(which must be a permitted activity), or a "yard sale" sign. These should be on the <br />property itself. <br />For commercial properties, we may want to consider allowing signage on a commercial <br />property before a building is constructed. Then, the signage area allowed on the property <br />can be used for the construction or for sale sign before a building is there. <br />Signs in the right of way would always be prohibited, except for traffic and other public <br />safety signs. <br />The attached table summarizes this discussion. <br />RECOMMENDATION <br />Provide recommendation to staff on banners and portable signs. <br />Next meeting: Staff will bring draft requirements for other types of temporary signs, as <br />discussed above. <br />
