Pond seeding and upland seeding mixtures are appropriate for the site. Landscape details
show spading machine soil incorporation methods. This should be used on the site for
seed bed preparation. Care must be taken in the excavation of ponds and the protection
of those ponds during construction to prevent further soil compaction.
All proposed ground cover seed mixes are native seed mixes. A long term maintenance
plan for the native seed areas (3 -5 years) should be submitted as well as a plan to initially
water the native seed during the plant establishment period.
Island planting areas should have a minimum of 500 cubic feet provided per tree. This is
from the Minnesota Sustainable Communities Guidelines with a recommended 600 -1000
cubic feet per tree requirement. It appears the islands on the site meet this "tree- need"
Recycling
Recycling containers will be located on the site.
RECOMMENDATION
Staff recommends approval of the preliminary plat and site plan review including any
recommendations of the board.
ATTACHMENTS
1.
