New Rare Species <br />Mr. Asleson stated the New Rare Species became a law in 1986 to protect endangered. <br />threaten and special concern species that were thought to be extinct are now being <br />found. <br />Ms. O'Dea asked how this affects the city. Mr. Asleson stated that additional plants <br />that have been added to the list and so in new developments we will have to watch out in <br />buffer area and transition areas for these plants. <br />Mr. Asleson stated that they will have to be careful and look over the area before using a <br />vibratory plow or when doing a burn. <br />Tabled to next month <br />B. Community Garden Update- <br />It was a great year for the gardeners. <br />Mr. Asleson stated that there was a concern about people driving in the area of the <br />gardens. Ms. O'Dea asked if it is possible that a barrier be built so that people can't drive <br />into the garden area. Mr. Asleson will look into a solution. <br />Ms. Bor questioned if a sign was still being looked into. Ms. O'Dea asked if getting <br />funding for the sign help. Mr. Asleson said yes. <br />Ms. Bor wanted to know if we need a garden advocate. Mr. Asleson stated not right now. <br />C. Blue Heron Days <br />Most of the Environmental Board will be on hand for parade clean up. It was noted that it <br />was an educational event with parents explaining to their children about recycling. <br />The board would like to have new shirts next year.
