Registration was strong for many programs -
particularly Soccer Mini Camp and Tuesday evening Preschool Dance. Classes will in late May /early June.
Kids Garage Sale: Our first Kids Garage Sale was held on Saturday, April 17 at Lino Lakes City Hall. The event, a
cooperative program with the Centennial Community Services Department, was designed so that kids could have an
opportunity to sell their used toys, games, etc. while at the same time learn how a garage sale works. Twenty -four
youth reserved sale tables. The event had some traffic, but not a large amount. We will research ideas over the next
year of how to draw bigger crowds.
Field Trips: Two trips were scheduled in April, but both were cancelled due to lack of registrations. There are no more
trips scheduled until summer. We are looking into the idea of offering before /after trip care to help increases numbers.
Summer Playground Program: This program is very popular this summer. Birch Park (morning session and afternoon
session), as well as Clearwater Creek Park have reached their maximums. We would love to be able to offer another
site in the Birch Park area, but the nearby parks are not large enough or suitable enough to accommodate the program.
T -Ball: Once again, this program has proven to be quite popular - several classes are filled. Additional sessions will only
be offered if there are fields available. Three year -Old Start Smart T -Ball is full and a waiting list has been started.
•rosse Leagues: The department, along with neighboring communities such as Blaine and Andover, are attempting
to put together a youth lacrosse league for 5th /6th graders and 7th /8th graders. Representatives from each community
met during the year to develop this league. We anticipate having two teams in each group from each community.
7fdatt
Community Outings: Jumpin Jehoshaphats at Grampa's Garage on April 14 filled. Our next outing, Springtime in New
Ulm, will be held on May 26.
Indoor Soccer: 8 teams are registered in this program. In the past, we have had as many as 18 teams. We've had to
reduce the size of this program due to the youth soccer club's increased need for turf time at the arena.
Softball: The summer program is full. Our league is able to accommodate 46 teams with the fields and schedule
available. Twelve Co -Rec. teams and 36 Men's teams will be participating this summer. We've reduced the number of
teams we can accommodate in this program due to rescheduling Rice Lake #3 for youth baseball.
ka6Paatd ?4 katiiele, 4e,4 , a,e, E peaprbett "e1terte hatertest
Programming Space: It is becoming apparent that we are not able to accommodate all the requested outdoor activities
with the amount of facilities in our inventory. We are doing our best to balance the needs of the
community with the available fields in our inventory.
Recreation Review: Work is underway on our summer edition of the Recreation Review. It is
•dUld to be in homes and on our web page (www.ci.lino - lakes.mn.us) the last week of May.
Employment: We are in the process of concluding our summer hiring. We received a number
of applications this year for employment including many from past staff.
Questions? Please call Liz Bursack or Barry Bernstein at 651- 982 -2440.
