Sheryl Johnstone stated again that homes that are
for sale on Lake Drive are not selling, people do not want to
buy single - family homes on Lake Drive.
MOTION: Al Robinson moved to approve the concept to increase
density adjacent to Lake Drive and that action to rezone will
start once plans for the development are submitted. John
Bergeson seconded the motion and the motion was approved
unanimously.
Al Robinson added that he agrees with Ms. Johnstone regarding
residential property becoming increasingly difficult to sell
along Lake Drive.
Fred Chase cautioned Ms. Johnstone that this is only an
approval of a concept. The applicant should submit plans to
the board.
DISCUSSION OF VARIOUS OPTIONS REGARDING ACCESSORY BUILDING
SIZE IN RESIDENTIAL AREAS.
Mr. Miller stated that this is a reoccurring request that the
board has before them. He stated that the former Chairperson
had heard so many requests that he wanted to change the
ordinance allowing residents to put a roof over their entire
lot.
Mr. Miller added that the residents that have a problem with
the current ordinance are the ones owning just under an acre.
There are several lots that fall under this category. Mr.
Miller felt that the board could resolve this problem if they
devised an additional category for those people.
listed below is language that Mr. Miller recommends that
would give the city this middle- ground category that should
help alleviate the problem.
(G) Under 11,250 square -
feet to 32,670 square
feet in rural and
residential
districts.
(F) 32,671 square feet
to 54,450 square
feet in rural and
residential
A total of 880 square feet
including any attached
garage.
- Not more than one detached
accessory building.
- No metal corrugated siding
or roof
-- 14 foot maximum height
- Roof and exterior color and
material compatible with
home (except manufactured
metal tool shed).
- A total of 960 square feet
including any attached
garage.
-- Not more than one detached
Page 3
