Page -4--Planning and Zoning
800 square foot building to 3/4 of an acre. Crohn seconded
the motion.
More discussion -
Chairman Dave Cody called for the question and a vote was
taken and the motion failed with Irwin, Averbeck, Nelson and
Prokop voting no. Dave Cody abstained.
MOTION: Prokop to request Planner to draft an ordinance
revision to allow for some type of relief of the question of
...square footage, something less than allowed on a one
acre lot but more than on a city lot. Perhaps..." using
Irwins percentage suggestion (Anything above 3/4 of an acre
can have 20 of the size of the lot) or some other
appropriate way of doing so. Irwin seconded the motion and
the motion was carried unanimously.
PLANNING DISCUSSION OF DEVELOPING A STREET NAMING POLICY:
In the past 15 years there has been considerable effort put
forth to develop rational street naming policies in the Twin
Cities Metropolitan Area. A recent Washington County
publication gives eight reasons for implementing a uniform
street naming and numbering system:
1. Make the change now while it is relatively easy;
such a change will be much more difficult in the
future;
2. Reduce difficulty in emergency vehicle travel to
property;
3. Reduce loss of mail, incorrect deliveries, loss
of time, and wrongly addressed mail;
4. Improve the "Image" of the County gained by
visitors;
5. Reduce "searching" for addresses by moving
vehicles;
6. Improve delivery truck services;
7. Improve maintenance of legal documents; and
8. Eliminate duplicate addresses
MOTION: Prokop moved to have the City Planner - John Miller
have the question researched on Street Naming and get a
cooperative effort with the surrounding communities to
approach Anoka County as to whether we should follow the
Anoka County Plan or perhaps adopt the Metro Council Plan.
