2002 Summer Playground Staff
Lino Lakes Parks and
Recreation Department
Program Highlights -
June Park Board Update
YOUTH
Summer Playground Program: Playgrounds started on June 17. The first week went well. Attendance is at 207
full-time participants for the seven combined morning and afternoon sites. A Patriotic Party is planned for July 3
at Sunrise Park for all participants. The party will include a special performance by Cheryl Sawyer, Storyteller.
CLUB: Our first trip of the season, Valleyfair, was cancelled due to lack of registrations. Our second trip, Twin
Game, scheduled for June 27 has four registrations. It is difficult to determine why we are not receiving registra-
tions for these trips.
Options: Options is going well. We are currently at 55 participants, as some parents had to cancel their children
out of the program for personal reasons. The participants are enjoying the variety of activities offered and the
new location (Centennial High School, Red Building) seems to be working out fairly well.
IP
Youth Instructional: Many of our youth instructional programs started the week of June 17. Classes are going
well, however; it's been a bit challenging with the drastic changes in weather each day. We will attempt to offer
make -up classes for those dates that have been cancelled.
Fall Soccer and Tackle Football: We are currently accepting registrations for these two programs. Registration is
a little behind last year, but we'll be having advertisements in the local newspaper the end of June and early July.
ADULT
Softball: The season is approximately 2/3 over. The weather has made things challenging, but we survived.
MISCELLANEOUS
Brochure: Work on our Fall Activities Guide will begin next month,
If you have any comments or questions about the brochure, please
call Liz Bursack at 651- 982 -2443.
Recreation Intern: Our Recreation Intern, Stephanie Kopp, is
now entering her sixth week with us. She is doing a great job
and has taken over a large portion of the responsibility of the
Playground Program - which has been extremely helpful! She
is also doing various projects for the department and will be
shadowing with various city employees over the next two months.
Questions? Please call Liz Bursack or Barry Bernstein at
651- 982 -2440.
Summer Staff Training with
Anoka County Extension Service
