Soccer
"Fun "damentals
Lino Lakes Parks and
Recreation
Department Program
Highlights -
June Park Board
Update
Youth
Youth Instructional: Our summer youth instructional programs (Soccer Fundamentals, Golf, Tennis, T -ball,
etc.) - many of which reached their maximums - began this month or late last month. The programs have
been going well, but we have had to cancel and reschedule a few classes due to weather.
Summer Playground Program: 274 participants are currently enrolled in this program - which includes
one morning site and five afternoon sites. This is our highest registration total to date for this program. A
new specialty program we added this summer was a visit from an educator from UnderwaterAdventures.
So far this has been a big hit with the children, as the program provides them with an opportunity to touch
a real shark!
•
Options: Fifty -seven participants are now registered for this summer's Options program - we had a
couple participants join us after the program started. The program has been going well and the staff
really like the Centennial Elementary location. We hope to use this location again next year, as we have
found it to be very "kid friendly ".
CLUB: Our first CLUB outing of the summer (St. Louis ParkAquatic Park) was held on Friday, June 20.
Twenty -six participants attended this first trip and the weather cooperated beautifully. Our second trip,
that was scheduled for June 27, was cancelled due to low registration.
Tackle Football and Fall Soccer: Registration is now underway for these two programs. Registration is
scheduled to concluded for both programs on July 17.
Adult
Softball: Forty -two teams are registered this
summer season. This is up two teams from last
year. The fall season is just around the corner.
Miscellaneous
Production on the fall edition of the Recreation
Review will begin in July. This is the second
edition of the brochure that will be produced
•inhouse.
Questions? Please call Liz Bursack or
Barry Bernstein at 651- 982 -2440.
3 Summer Staff
