City of Lino Lakes <br />Park Board Meeting <br />April 3, 2000 <br />have to look at unsupervised rinks and see if they are necessary. <br />The City may also have to be more open to programming the rinks <br />for more use. <br />Rick advised the City has been able to accommodate all the youth <br />hockey groups relating to rink use. He added he will pass the <br />word along that the City is open to more programming. He stated <br />he believes the rinks just aren't being used as much as they used <br />to due to other activities. <br />Pat asked about notes that are kept on unsupervised rinks. Rick <br />advised the notes were taken again this year. Maintenance <br />workers were at Shenandoah Park to flood or plow on 13 different <br />occasions. There weren't any skate marks;, he entire season. <br />Behm's rink was the most used this year k suggested the <br />possibility of flooding one of the infiel.`'Rice Lake <br />Elementary school for student use. The `''' has not yet been <br />approached about this possibility. <br />Chris asked about the procedure reg g closure of a rink. <br />Rick advised staff will be coming the Park Board to determine <br />rink locations and hours. He stated' e has thought about sending <br />letters to residents. He stat ::'decision will be made by a <br />combination of resident inputs f input, and the Park Board. <br />PARKS DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Rick reviewed a memo from <br />summarizes the maintenan <br />the training session <br />that include the foll <br />MTI University (Toro <br />Tree Workshop. <br />fman, Park Supervisor, which <br />hl ghts for March, 2000. He noted <br />attended by maintenance personnel <br />esticide Re- certification Training, <br />Sexual Harassment training, and Hazard <br />Rick continued stating the maintenance activities during March <br />included bleacher assembly (10 sets of 5 row 15'), trimming <br />boulevard trees, and inventories of all ballfields to determine <br />maintenance needs prior to season. Major projects for April <br />include the installation of two scoreboards (Sunrise Park) and <br />ballfield work. <br />Brandywood Playground Equipment - Rick advised the Brandywood <br />Playground project was awarded to Minnesota /Wisconsin Playground, <br />Inc. (Game Time) at the March 13, 2000, Council meeting. Staff <br />also met with area residents on March 13, 2000, to make final <br />decisions such as color selection. On March 21, 2000, staff <br />received a letter from Mrs. Karen Nelson regarding the concerns <br />she had with the selection of the Game Time proposal. Rick <br />6 <br />
