City of Lino Lakes <br />Park Board Meeting <br />January 4,2000 <br />neighborhood park for the Fox Trace development is Birchwood <br />Acres Park, which is, located % to % miles from the Fox Trace <br />Development. Access is available via paved trails. The typical <br />service area for a neighborhood park is 1/ to % mile radius. <br />Mr. Brett Bauer, 335 Linda Lane, came forward and stated the area <br />has a neighborhood crime watch group that meets periodically to <br />discuss different issues. The issue of a closer park area was <br />discussed and received an overwhelming response. He asked what <br />the City process involves to pursue this park area. <br />Mr. Tom Kallevig, 6206 Linda Lane, stated the main issue <br />regarding the park area is safety for the younger children. <br />Major roads that must be crossed to acces a park border the <br />development. <br />Chair Lindy advised a neighborhood park area might be <br />looked at in the future if parcels to t .uth develop. At this <br />time the City does not have funding aE i le to purchase <br />additional land. <br />Rick added park dedication for <br />cash. Rick reviewed the City <br />noting there is a much better <br />whole parcel to the south i <br />the purchase of property wi <br />ce was originally made in <br />regarding park dedication <br />e of park development is the <br />oped. He noted he could pursue <br />property owners. <br />Chair Lindy stated the n park in this area needs to be <br />kept in mind. A park will <br />probably not be developed here unless the land is developed or <br />another funding source s found. The Park Board is now aware <br />there is interest for a neighborhood park. <br />Paul added it is possible to put this item on a referendum to fix <br />and repair neighborhood parks. <br />Mr. Bauer stated there is much interest among the neighbors for a <br />neighborhood park. Approximately 90% of the neighborhood signed <br />the petition. He continued stating he wanted to discuss the <br />issue before the property to the south develops. He also wanted <br />to find out what the residents can do to get involved with the <br />City process. He noted that he appreciates the quick response <br />received from the City. <br />Mr. Kallevig added that the residents are aware that the property <br />to the south needs to be developed before a park is developed. <br />2 <br />
