The event will be
taking place on Saturday, November 13 from 10 - 11:30 am at Centennial Middle
School. This year's event is sponsored by Circle Pines Lexington Lions, Forest Lake
Area Athletic Association, Lakeland National Bank, Lino Lakes Lions and Lino
Lakes State Bank. In 1998, we had a difficult time finding volunteers for this event.
This year, however, over 50 people from organizations such as the Centennial and
Forest Lake High School Honor Societies, Centennial Women of Today and the Girl
Scouts have volunteered to help with this event.
Breakfast with Santa - Breakfast with Santa will be held on Saturday, December 11
from 8:30 - 10:00 am. As of 10/22/99, 120 people have registered for this event.
Because of spatial limitations at the Lino Lakes Senior Center, Breakfast with Santa
has been relocated this year to St. Joseph 's Church. As a direct result of this location
change, we are able to accommodate up to 160 participants - an increase of 50 from
previous years. We are, however, still looking for volunteers to help with this event.
Currently, we have about 13 volunteers including Santa and Santa's helper.
Secret Holiday Shop - The Secret Holiday Shop is back this year after a one year
absence - a result of spatial limitations. The Secret Holiday Shop program gives
children the opportunity to buy gifts for their friends and family without anyone
knowing what they bought. Gifts range in price from $0.25 - $7.00. This event will be
held on December 11 from 9:30 - 11:00 am at St. Joseph's Church.
Letters from Santa - Each year Santa wishes all boys and girls a very happy holiday
from the North Pole. In 1998, over 120 requests were received by the Parks and
Recreation Department for Letters from Santa. We are estimating on over 150
requests this year. All requests must be received by December 10. Letters are mailed
around December 17.
Snow Day - Anoka County Parks and Recreation Department and Lino Lakes Parks
and Recreation Department declare a "Snow Day ". Snow Day is a free family event
devoted entirely to snow, winter and outdoor activities. Families are invited to come
and experience snow like they never have before. Snow Day will be held on
Saturday, January 22, 2000 from 10 am - 1 pm at Wargo Nature Center. Featured
activities include: skijoring, snowshoeing, cross - country skiing, Norwegian
kicksledding, winter softball, winter rope pull, winter camping demonstrations,
nature programs, crafts and more.
Questions?
