• <br />• <br />• <br />City of Lino Lakes <br />Park Board Meeting <br />August 2, 1999 <br />TRAILS UPDATE: <br />Barry distributed the following trails update: <br />Otter Lake Road <br />This trail is located on the eastern side of the realigned Otter <br />Lake Road. The trail runs from Cedar Street to Main street and <br />will be constructed within the next few weeks. <br />Marshan Park <br />This trail connection will connect Marshan Park to the Stage <br />Coach trail cul -de -sac. This will provide a trail connection to <br />the trail system adjacent to Marshan Lake. This trail segment <br />will be located within the park property that was deeded to the <br />City this past winter. <br />Wenzel Farms Trail <br />The damaged trees located to the south of the creek were recently <br />cleared. The Parks Department plans on stump grinding the trees <br />and removing the remaining debris in this area. A pedestrian <br />bridge is still anticipated to be installed this fall. <br />Additional funding will need to be secured to create the <br />bituminous trails to complete this trail loop. <br />Birch Park <br />There is still no progress in acquiring land to connect the <br />Trapper's Crossing Development to Birch Park. <br />Pam asked if the extension in Marshan Park is from the park along <br />the back of the property. Barry advised the extension of the <br />trail is to the south from the play structure, through the park <br />east to Stage Coach cul -de -sac. <br />RECREATION DEPARTMENT UPDATE: <br />Barry referred to the Program Highlights Flyer from July, 1999. <br />He noted the Safety Camp program which is just around the corner. <br />The committee has been planning this event for the past year. As <br />of July 26, 1999, 107 children have registered for this program. <br />This is the largest number to register in the five year history <br />of the program. <br />Barry advised registration has concluded for the Fall Soccer <br />program. Over 500 participants have signed up which is an <br />increase of 125 over last year. <br />Paul asked about the percentage of Lino Lakes residents enrolled <br />in the programs. Barry advised that last year approximately 80% <br />of enrollment in the soccer program were residents from the City. <br />4 <br />
