10/24/94 <br />CITY OF <br />LINO LAS <br />Standards for Facility Design <br />General <br />The Standards for Facility Design are intended to guide the City <br />staff in design and review of engineering calculations for storm <br />water facilities being constructed in the City. The Policy Elements <br />are taken directly from the Policy Document, and are the basis for <br />design elements. The Design Elements are the engineering <br />foundation for all storm water facility construction in the City. <br />Policy Elements <br />The City of Lino Lakes has approved several policies that <br />determine Facility Design in the City. Selected policies that follow <br />have been extracted from the Goals and Policies section of the <br />Policy Document portion of the Local Water Management Plan. <br />They should be adhered to when new development or <br />redevelopment is being considered. <br />Water Quantity <br />Policy 11: <br />Policy 1.2: <br />Policy 1.3: <br />Policy 1.4: <br />Policy 1.5: <br />Natural storm water storage areas and man -made <br />detention areas should be utilized to control <br />flooding. <br />The acceptable or allowable storage capacity of the <br />existing drainage system shall be optimized. <br />Regional detention areas, as opposed to individual <br />on -site detention, shall be used whenever practical <br />as indicated in the local watershed management <br />plan. <br />All hydrologic studies shall be based on ultimate <br />development of the entire tributary drainage area. <br />Major storm water facilities shall be designed using <br />a return period of 100 years. <br />Local Water Management Plan SEH NO: LINOL9402.00 <br />Users Manual Page 5 <br />
