44
May 23, 1983
Mr. Schumacher suggested that he contact the adjoining land owners
and make them aware of this. The procedure for this construction
was discussed. Mr. Marier moved to grant authorization to work with
the City Engineer to proceed with this project upon the escrowing
of the required funds. Seconded by Mr. Kulaszewicz. Motion
carried unanimously.
PRELIMINARY PLANS FOR SENIOR CENTER.
Mr. Ed Vogt presented the preliminary plans for the construction of
the Senior Center and the expansion of City Hall. This material was
presented in slide form noting the roof lines, the exterior materials,
the propsoed window area, some options, such as a skylight in the
corridor. Mr. Marier questioned the size of the proposed Council
Chamber and Mr. Vogt said it is approximately 12% smaller than the
existing area. Mr. Marier questioned the rationale of this this
and Mr. Vogt pointed out that the one wall is a movable wall that
can be opened up if the need arises.
Mrs. Elsenpeter questioned the parking area for the North entrance
and Mr. Vogt suggested there may be some parking, but it would be
limited.
Mr. Arnie Kelling noted that the Senior Citizen Committee had met and
reviewed these plans and felt it was a servicable building and the
most improtant aspect is to get the construction started.
Mr. Schumacher reported that the plans and specifications to date
have cost $10,600.00. Mr. Marier - does this include the specifica-
tions? Mr. Vogt, Yes. Mr. Marier said, this is out of line - he
would show him the plans he had drawn up for only $125.00.
There was some discussion on the kitchen area with the general
consensus that this is to be a service project for the Seniors and
the Service Clubs in the area after the building is completed.
Mayor Benson thanked Mr. Vogt for his time and information.
ATTORNEY'S REPORT
Mr. Hawkins reported on a letter from the insurance company in re-
ference to the Pufall case.
The other case was the conciliation court case involving the Police
Department and will be handled by the Insurance Company.
Mr. Kulaszewicz asked if one of the Circle Pines officers was invovled
and Mr. Hawkins said, Yes, one of their officers.
Mayor Benson asked if the case is being appealed and Mr. Haskins said
Yes.
Mr. Schumacher asked if the description of the Adams property had
been received from the Engineer and Mr. Hawkins said, No.
COUNCIL MEMBER APPOINTMENT TO CHAMBER OF COMMERCE BOARD OF DIRECTORS
