208 <br />April 9, 1984 <br />Chief Myhre was asked if he had asked either of the men and Cheif <br />Myhre said one would not take the position, the other, he is not sure <br />about. <br />Mr. Reinert asked if the replacement of the officer could not be <br />done in cooperation with other communities and draw from a pool and <br />save the expense that is involved each time we must replace an officer? <br />Cheif Myhre said, Yes, there is such an organization, but this City is <br />not a part of that group and must be a member of the group before an <br />officer is needed. <br />There was discussion on the various aspects of this item. There was <br />questions on Mke Jensen and Mike Delmont and the process that must <br />be followed in order to fill this position. <br />Mr. Reinert moved to delay any action on the hiring procedure until the <br />April 23, 1984 Council meeting and in the interium, Chief Myhre and <br />Mayor Benson talk with Mike Jensen. Seconded by Mr. Marier. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />CLERK'S REPORT <br />The Clerk had prepared a draft letter in response to the discussion on <br />splitting of the City into precincts. The Council agreed with the <br />contents of the letter. The Clerk had also prepared a cost analysis <br />with two options. This letter can either be printed and stuffed in <br />the papers or it can be published in the papers. <br />Mayor Benson asked if this could not be printed on City Letterheads <br />and the Clerk agreed that this could be done. <br />There was discussion on the splitting of the alphabet and using the new <br />Council Chamber for this next year. The many areas of this was discussed <br />very thoroughly. <br />Mr. Marier moved to have this letter printed )on City letterhead and <br />have inserted in the two newspapers. Seconded by Mr. Reinert. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />ATTORNEY's REPORT <br />Mr. Hawkins reported on the Joint Fire Contract in reference to the <br />Circle Pines' Attorney's questions and said the changes and no impact <br />on the overall contract. Mr. Hawkins presented the Council members with <br />extra copies of the agreement. <br />A recess was called a this point in the meeting. The meeting reconvened. <br />REPORT ON THE PROPOSED WOOD FUELED UNIT TO BE INSTALLED AT THE PRISON <br />Mr. Schumacher reported that late last week the City of Circle Pines <br />was notified that the State is considering changing from a gas fueled <br />heating system to a wood chip burning system. This would save the <br />State approximately $10,000.00 a year, however, this would result in <br />a loss of approximately $32,000.00 per year to this City. <br />
