230
May 14, 1984
In the summer it would run off onto the land and in the winter he
would take the cars to a car wash.
Mr. Marier asked how many cars and Mr. Kohl said 16 cars on the lot
and 6 parking spaces for customers.
Mr. Reinert was concerned with the matter of repair of the cars - he
wondered how this operation can be controlled from becoming a used
auto parts sales rather than a used car lot.
Mr. Kohl said the repari would be taking a used car and putting it
abck into running condition.
Mr. Marier asked what happens to the defective parts that are removed
from the used cars - what happens to those parts? would he have a
Dumpster? Mr. Kohl said he and not thought that far ahead.
1
Mr. Schumacer asked about the planting - does he have anything
specified? Mr. Kohl said there are some existing trees and he pointed
out the areas to be planted noting the types of trees he plans to plant.
Mr. Marier suggested getting in writing from Mr. Kohl what he plans to
do in this area, what is he going to do with the refuse - how many cars
will be stored that are not runable, if any. Mr. Reinert stated there is
a difference between a used car sales lot and the junking of cars for
parts. This is very important to this operation - this is a main
concern - that this operation does not become a junk yard.
Mr.Kohl said he is applying for a used car lot not a junk yard - isn't
there ordinances that cover this if he deviates from his permitted use?
Mr. Reinert said, Yes, but sometimes this type of operation changes
character so slowly that it becomes a junk yard before it is really
noticed. Mr. Kohl asked what does this Council expect from him? Mr.
Reinert said a letter of committment stating his intentions of conducting
a used car lot and not a salavage lot, noting the type of repairs he
plans to do - what he plans to do with the refuse.
Mr. Reinert asked if anyone from the audience had any comment and Mr.
Connoy presented newspaper ads for the purchase of junk cars that are
MR. Kohl's advertisements. There was no one else to speak.
Mr. Marier moved to continue this matter to May 29, 1984 at 8:30 P.M.
Seconded by Mr. Kulaszewicz. Motion carried unanimously.
The Clerk reminded the Council the next Council meeting is on Tuesday
May 29, 1984 due to the holiday.
PUBLIC HEARING - CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT - JOANNE BUCHOLZ
Acting Mayor Reinert opened this hearing at $;00 P.M. noting this is
for a Kennel license.
Mr. Kluegel explained this is for a home located in Arena Acres and
the request is for a kennel license to keep three small house dogs.
There is to be no outside kennel. Mr. Kluegel noted that this had been
recommended for approval by the Planning and Zoning Board.
