1 1 1 COUNCIL MEETING October 22, 1984 Page Six Mayor Benson asked that a letter be written to both Mayor and Senator Dahls indicating some of the discussion that has taken place tonight especially the idea of just a gas commission and the representation might be closer to parity at two Lino Lakes representatives and three Circle Pines representatives especially with the development of Rice Lake Estates, and ask for their responses. Mr. Schumacher questioned the paragraph of Mayor Dahl's letter which indicates that the Lino gas system represents 18% of the oper- ating budget. As he recalls in 1984, Lino Lakes paid 26% of the operating budget. Mr. Bohjanen moved to have the letter requested by Mayor Benson drafted and made part of the minutes. Mr. Reinert seconded the motion. Motion declared passed. B. Public Hearing - Community Development Block Grant Funds - Mr. Schumacher asked the Council to set a public hearing for November 12, 1984 at 7:30 for dealing with public service projects for cost of tables, chairs and operating costs of the center. Mr. Kulaszewicz moved to set the public hearing for 7:30 P.M., November 12, 1984. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion. Mr. Reinert asked if this isn't after the fact. Mr. Schumacher said no, we are finished with the construction, but are just starting to pur- chase the equipment. This is HUD requirement. On voting on the motion, motion carried unanimously. C. Squad Car - 041 Mr. Schumacher told the Council the squad car was in an accident and relayed details of the accident. He noted there are appropriations in the 1985 budget for a new squad and Officer Zerwas was contacted by Brookdale Ford about a 1984 police package equipped Ford LTD they have in stock for $9,600. If he did purchase this vehicle, he would not use it until sometime after the first of the. year. Officer Zerwas felt the cost of a new squad under the Hennepin County bid after the first of the year would be approximately $11,400 or $11,600. Mayor Benson asked if Brookdale Ford would accept a lower price. Mr. Schumacher said they had not negotiated anything. There was discussion about the accident and Mr. Schumacher said there will be a full investigation and the car is at Skyline Auto. The repair costs will be covered by insurance.
