1 <br />1 <br />Page Fifteen <br />—:re II <br />January 28, 1985 <br />- Assisted in the development and construction of the Lino Lakes BMX track <br />- The City was awarded $8,700 from the McKnight Foundation for work on our <br />Senior kitchen <br />- Completed a community profile and market analysis <br />- Received a $20,000 increase in State Aid to give us a total of $240,000 for <br />Municipal State Aid street improvements <br />- Established a bonding and financial policy for public improvements <br />- Updated the City's capital improvement plan <br />- Received a higher yield from investments from diversification of its funds <br />Equipment <br />- Purchased two 1985 police sedans <br />- Other equipment such as City Council chambers equipment, etc. <br />Community Services <br />The Council has decided to stay with a City Police Department in an effort to <br />maintain better service and make use of cost effectiveness. Other cost saving <br />services were established. in the Police. Department such as rotating squads, and <br />following the Hennepin County Bid policy when purchasing new squads. Crimes in <br />Lino Lakes dropped 52% and traffic was up 43%, calls were also up 35 %. <br />1983 - <br />19842- Percent -- <br />Robbery 2 2 0 <br />Assault - 33 29 -12% <br />Burglary 65 61 -7% <br />Larceny 102 107 +5% <br />Auto Theft 28 13 -5% <br />230 218 -52% <br />D.U.I. 77 75 -3% <br />Traffic 854 - 1,601 -. +47% <br />Warning Tickets -143 238 +40% <br />1,074 tickets - 1,914 tickets- +43% <br />All Calls 5,204 5,399 •i-36% <br />Building Inspections <br />In the area of-the Building Department, 213 building permits were issued with <br />a total valuation of $6,858,559. Ninety -five single family homes were con- <br />structed. The City received a tonal of $17,000 from the City of Circle Pines <br />for shared inspection services. <br />Public Works <br />- The Public Works Department was.busy this year with its annual street main- <br />tenance program <br />- 16 streets at 7.5 lane miles were seal coated and 19 streets were overlayed <br />at 5.8 lane miles <br />- The City completed the upgrading of Ash Street in conjunction with Ramsey <br />III County <br />. - 12 new street lights were installed and a policy for future installation was <br />designed <br />- Continued the maintenance of City boulevards on a regular basis <br />- Maintained City streets whenever necessary, (sweeping /plowing) <br />- Provided free garden mulch for residents <br />X05 <br />
