IMayor Benson noted a meeting this coming Friday sponsored by the
Minnesota League of Cities at City Center dealing with tax incre-
ment financing. Mr. Bohjanen will attend and possibly Mr. Marier
as well.
071
COUNCIL MEETING
August 12, 1985
Page Eight
Mr. Goldade from the audience told the Council that the Minneapolis
Star and Tribune paper did a study on tax increment financing and it
appeared in one of their editions last week.
Mayor Benson noted at $35.00 per hour the study by Mr. Wilson would
take 100 hours. He requested a breakdown of the costs in the various
areas. Mr. Kulaszewicz moved to table this item. Mr. Marier secon-
ded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF A PROPOSAL FOR A THREE YEAR AUDITING CONTRACT SERVICE
FROM VOTO, REARDON, TAUTGES & CO., INC.
Mayor Benson asked Mr. Huss if he will be contributing to the audit
more than has been previously done. Mr. Huss explained he felt he
would be able to prepare more of the work sheets, trial balances and
other preparation required prior to the actual audit. He felt the
new computer would further make the audit easier and faster. Mr.
Schumacher noted that in the third yedr of the proposed contract
there is no charge for accounting services. This assumes that Mr.
Huss will be doing these services.
Mayor Benson suggested a two year contract rather than a three year
contract and also asked if the contract could be further negotiated.
Mr. Reinert noted that the City has been satisfied with the work
performed by this firm and this is one of the costs of doing busi-
ness. He did suggest that Mr. Schumacher go back to the auditors
and ask if they had taken into consideration we now have a CPA on
staff who can possibly do more of the audit, the computer system
will be operational for 1986 and remind them the increase is rang-
ing near 10% per year.
Mr. Schumacher noted that this firm does not charge for phone calls
and other services during the year. This is very helpful.
Mr. Kulaszewicz moved to table this item until the next Council meet-
ing. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
ATTORNEYS REPORT
A. Circle Lex Lions Club Request for Beer Permit and Authorization
for Use of Sunrise Park. - Mr. Hawkins has reviewed this applciation
and recommended approval. Mr. Kulaszewicz moved to approve this
request. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion carried unan-
imously.
B.
