The problem was discussed at the previous
Council meeting and Mr. Volk feels this area will cost the City
for annual maintenance as well as present a difficult problem
because there is not sufficient room to perform the maintenance.
His recommendation is that the City supply the culvert and supervise
the project as Mr. Smith contracts to have the culvert installed
and the area landscaped. This will insure the culvert is properly
installed and the lot owners will be able to maintain the landscaped
area. Mr. Volk said the culvert will need very minimal maintenance
and this will be performed by the City.
Mr. Marier moved to supply the culvert and have Mr. Volk supervise
the installation and have an agreement drafted between the City
and Mr. Smith outlining the responsibilities of each party.
The reason for this installation is to lessen the cost to the
City of maintaining this easement and because of the configuration
of the easement allowing easier access for future maintenance
of the culvert. Mr. Kulaszewicz seconded the motion. Motion
carried unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF BIDS FOR SQUAD CARS
Chief Campbell has provided the Council with the bid sheets for
two squad cars to be purchased through the Hennepin County Joint
Purchasing Agreement.
There was discussion regarding the size of the engine. Chief
Campbell feels the City has had good luck with the 351 engine
and the City has the necessary equipment to maintain this engine.
He preferred staying with this engine. He also noted that the
cars if approved by the City would have to be ordered before
December 20.
Mr. Marier moved to purchase two new squad cars for $22,668.00.
Mr. Kulasziecz seconded the motion.
