the Department by the Circle -Lex VFW. The Moto -4 has proven to be a
valuable tool for residential patrols during the summer months.
Business and commercial premises surveys have sparked interest and
participation within out business community. Officers are trained
to recommend security improvements in areas of vulnerability.
In 1985, the Lino Lakes Police Task Force recommended that due to
the large area of the City, there should be two officers per shift
on patrol. Based on this recommendation, an additional police offi-
cer will be hired. Other recommendations by the Task Force were
also implemented in 1985. The Civil Defence program is also a very
valuable arm of the Police Department. They will continue to train and
remain ready when needed.
PUBLIC WORKS
1985 was a very active year for the City's Public Works Department.
City crews sealcoated eight lane miles of city streets within budget,
and completed their 1985 bituminous overlay program of six lane miles
$25,000 under budget.
Not only does our Public Works Department concentrate on keeping our
roads in top condition, but there are many day to day special projects
that arise. This year was no exception.
One special project this year was the Arbor day tree sale. Over 300
trees were sold at one dollar a piece to area residents. Varieties
such as Black Hills spruce, white pine and maple were available. We
intend to continue this program again in 1986.
1
1
1
