Council Minutes <br />May 27, 1980 <br />Reinhart, asked if this ordinance was proposed because of abuse of the five <br />acre requirement. Mayor Gourley said, No, just to bring the ordinance re- <br />quirements into line with the existing ordinances. <br />Jerry Bolin felt that five acres was enough to support animals. <br />Terry Smith asked the Council to give the residents an ordinance they can <br />live with. <br />Shelia Rehbine set forth the costs of maintaining their horses. <br />Richard Halstad felt the way the ordinance is written there is no restrict - <br />ions on the number and he felt there should be and suggested checking with <br />the U of M for recommended acreage for animals. <br />Mayor Gourley announced that this will be on the June 9, 1980 agenda at 7:45 <br />P.M. <br />000103 <br />Cindy Benier they raise cattle on their acreage all summer and sell them in the <br />fall. She was concerned about the selling of the land for the present use. <br />Mayor Gourley said the non- conforming pre- existing use would pass to the next <br />owners as long as the use was not intensified. <br />Dean Wiesner talked on the subject of breeding horses and has two animals at <br />this time and are planning on expanding - how would a restrictive number affect <br />this operation? Mayor Gourley reminded him of the Public Hearing on June 9, 1980. <br />Mayor Gourley called a recess at this point. Meeting to reconvene at 8:55 P.M. <br />The meeting was reconvened. Mayor Gourley noted that there are three requests <br />under the Planning and Zoning report - Mr. Smeed and Mr. Turene for keeping of <br />Horses and Mr. Suchy for keeping animals - he suggested these requests be tabled <br />until the suggested ordinance is completed. He put this suggestion to the persons <br />and affected and they agreed to the postponment. <br />Mr. McLean moved to approve the tabling of these three items. Seconded by Mr. <br />Jaworski. Motion carrithd. unanimously. <br />The Public Hearing on Wollan's Estates was called to order. Mayor Gourley asked <br />Mr. Schumacher to present the information on this request. Mr. Schumacher <br />read the notice of publication. <br />The application was for the rezoning from Commercial /Residential to Light Ind- <br />ustrial. This is for the four lots facing Lake Drive. This should have been <br />for a zoning of General Business. <br />This is for the rezoning of the entire lots 24,25,26,and 27, of Wollan's Estates <br />from Comm /Res to General Business. The park requirements for this !land has been <br />taken care of for this property. <br />Mayor Gourley asked for comments from the audience, there was none. Mr. McLean <br />moved to approve this rezoning. Seconded by Mr..Kulaszewicz. <br />Mr. Locher said the meets and bounds description will have to be used for the <br />legal since this is not a filed plat. Legal descriptions that are not filed <br />cannot be used, so in order to rezone this, the meets and bounds description <br />of these lots must be used. <br />
