147
COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 8, 1987
I next Council meeting, if not the Council will proceed with Lake Animal
Care. Mr. Bisel seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Comprehensive Land Use Plan Amendment - Mr. Marier asked how Met
Council was approached with the Comp Plan Amendment. There was
discussion about the concern Met Council has regarding density in the
Comp Plan Amendment. Mr. Schumacher said he has contacted Ms. Mary
Hauser, the Met Council representative in this area and she has agreed
to meet with the Council and staff regarding this issue. If this City
does not agree to give an extension of time to Met Council for their
consideration of our Amendment the Met Council will be forced to give
their comments on the Amendment and these comments are likely to be
unfavorable.
Mr. Reinert expressed his displeasure with Met Council. Mr.
Schumacher said he felt that since Ms. Hauser was present when the
staff discussed the Amendment with Mr. Shetler of Met Council and Mr.
Shelter had indicated that he did not see any problem with what Lino
Lakes was proposing, this would work in favor of the City. The Met
Council also complimented Lino Lakes for involving the citizens in the
formation of the Comprehensive Plan. Mr. Bisel felt that this City
should seriously consider joining Ham Lake at their meeting on June
17, 1987 when they consider the role of Met Council.
I It was decided to meet with Ms. Hauser at 4:30 P.M. at the Lino Lakes
City hall.
Noxious Weeds - Mr. Marier noted that the farmers in the area of
Rehbein's Peltier View Plat were concerned because there has been no
attempt to get rid of the weeds growing in the platted area. Mr.
Schumacher explained that notices were sent to the landowner and the
Weed Inspector has also been notified. If the problem is not cleared
up at the end of the ten day notice given in the notices, the City
will spray and bill the landowner.
Update, Roland Ford - Mr. Kluegel informed the Council that the County
has not started proceedings against Mr. Ford.
NEW BUSINESS
St. Joseph's Catholic Church Charitable Gambling License - Mayor
Benson noted receipt of St. Joseph's application for a gambling
license.
Centerville Drainage - Mr. Schumacher noted that RCWD has prepared a
study to determine what the problem is and what should be done to
prevent further flooding in the area of LaMotte Road.
