1 <br />1 <br />137 <br />COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 8, 1987 <br />Kevin Phillips - Mr. Phillips said he has called several times because <br />the intersection of Lake Drive and Lois Lane is very dangerous. Boats <br />are set on the pavement, blocking lanes of traffic and obstructing the <br />view when coming onto Lois Lane from Lake Drive and from Lake Drive to <br />Lois Lane. In addition he felt the area was very unsightly. He said <br />he would like a wood fence to keep everything out of sight. <br />Marilyn Elsenpeter - Mrs. Elsenpeter explained that she will soon be a <br />resident of Lois Lane and was concerned about ground water <br />contamination because of the buried gas tanks on Luther's property. <br />She asked that PCA examination this situation because the tanks may be <br />causing some underlying problem. <br />Mr. Schumacher explained he has personally talked to Mr. Duncanson, <br />the current owner of Luther's regarding relocating the business near <br />35W in the Lino Industrial Park. Mr. Duncanson simply does not have <br />enough land to operate a business that is growing at such a fast pace. <br />Mr. Duncanson had expressed concern regarding such a move because the <br />City was considering a complete moratorum on pole type construction <br />and he would need this for storage facility in the new location. <br />Steve Schneider - Mr. Schneider asked what would happen if there was <br />an emergency when there are boats and cars parked on the street. <br />There was discussion on this issue. <br />Mrs. Duncanson - Mrs. Duncanson explained that. Luther's was there long <br />before any of the residences or Lois Lane was built. She also told <br />the Council that she has hired a boy that does nothing but haul <br />rubbish to the dump twice a day. She further explained that when <br />customers drop boats off there is a period of about five minutes when <br />the boat is left hooked up to the car in the street. She has <br />instructed her employees to be sure to have the boat moved as soon as <br />possible so that it would not obstruct traffic. Mrs. Duncanson <br />explained that Luther's now employ about twenty five people and <br />further explained how some of the neighbors have come to her office <br />and have been abusive and offensive. She noted that if this <br />harrassment continues Luther's Sport Shop will be moved from Lino <br />Lakes. She also noted that Luther LeVessuer would be greatly <br />distressed if he got wind of this harrassment. Mrs. Duncanson said <br />that if any recommendations are presented she will abide by them but . <br />she will not take any further abuse. <br />Mayor Benson said he would not take any abuse regarding this City or <br />its citizens either. He asked what would happen if every citizen <br />takes a part of the road to use as they wish? He said Luther's could <br />stay or move, however this City did appreciate the businesses who were <br />trying to upgrade their concerns. Mrs. Duncanson noted that if <br />PAGE 5 <br />
