138
COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 8, 1987
Luther's moves it will be an all around loss, a loss of jobs and of
taxable property.
Mr. Reinert asked Mrs. Duncanson how she felt this situation could be
resolved? Mrs. Duncanson did not have a solution but noted that the
VFW Club has garbage floating around and nobody complains about this.
Mr. Reinert told Mrs. Duncanson she appeared to be very rigid in her
position and unwilling to cooperate. The basic concern here is to get
the boats off of the street and work to clean up the area.
Mr. Kluegel said he felt the primary need is for screening and
suggested a six foot cyclone fence or wood fence with everything
stored within the fence.
Mr. Bohjanen asked about the property between Luther's and the house
to the east. Mrs. Duncanson said that Luther's rents the property
from the former Mrs. Duncanson who has not allowed them to place a
fence on it.
Mr. Reinert asked Cheif Campbell how parking complaints are received.
Chief Campbell said most complaints come through Central
Communications. By the time a squad gets there the problem has left
the area. Luther's has been very cooperative when a problem arises.
Kevin Phillips - Mr. Phillips said he did not see a real solution for
this area. He would like to see a fence and containment of the
rubbish. He noted that nothing can be done about the loading and
unloading of boats on the street. When businesses grow it is expected
that they need larger areas. He felt that Luther's should not be able
to impose on other rsidents and was concerned when minor infractions
take place just because Luther's is allowed to be there.
Another resident felt that Luther's was not being cleaned up. He
recommended a privacy fence. He told of boxes being left on the road
and when they get cleaned up more rubbish appears. He felt the
traffic was the real problem. For the present he would like to see
the boats moved from the right -of -way along Lake Drive because on
coming traffic cannot be seen.
Terry Malley, Knoll Drive agreed the problem was parking on the
boulevard. He suggested placing signs telling people where to park.
A gentleman from the audience asked to hear more concerning the
underground gas storage tanks. Mayor Benson said he would not address
this concern until after the Pollution Control Agency assesses the
situation.
PAGE 6
