158
COUNCIL MEETING JUNE 22, 1987
to serve. Mr. Tester also originally said he would not serve, however
Mr. Schumacher felt that the school district has a vital concern on
what is happening in Lino Lakes and asked Mr. Tester again to serve.
He agreed. Mayor Benson said that Mrs. Roisum had expressed interest
in serving on this committee. Mr. Schumacher said he had not heard
from her on this matter.
Mr. Schumacher asked for Council confirmation of the list of committee
members submitted in their Council packets. Mr. Bohjanen asked if the
Council confirms these members, can additional members be added at a
later date. He was told that the committee can be enlarged whenever
the Council feels it necessary.
Mr. Bohjanen moved to approve the list of committee members submitted
and leave the committee open for further members. Mr. Reinert
seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF TAX FORFEIT PROPERTY
Mrs. Anderson explained that she has received a list of properties
that the County is proposing to offer for sale on the sheriff's
auction. The County is asking that the City designate any parcels
that they wish to be withheld from the auction. A list and a map has
been prepared and included with the Council packets. Mrs. Anderson
explained the locations of each of the parcels and their potential use
for the City.
Mr. Marier moved to withhold all of the parcels and submit an
application for purchase of them for City use. Mr. Bohjanen seconded
the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF REORGANIZING CLERICAL STAFF
Mr. Schumacher has submitted a memorandum to the Council explaining
his plan to reorganize the clerical staff in the administration
office. He is proposing to combine the two part time secretary
positions and hire a full time secretary /receptionist. There will
still be a need for some part time help particularily for taking
minutes for the Park Board and the Planning and Zoning Board. The two
part, time secretaries will still be needed for this area and some
other special projects. This request will increase the 1987 budget by
approximately $1,800.00. Mr. Schumacher explained the reason for this
request is that we must establish a consistant chain of information to
the public as well as the staff. In addition there is an increasing
amount of work for this person and as the City grows over the next
couple of years, this position will also grow.
PAGE 10
