168
COUNCIL MEETING JULY 13, 1987
Mr. Bohjanen raised the question of dust problems resulting from
the plant. Mr. Kluegel said he foresees complaints with regard
to dust. Mr. Obernolte stated that only forklifts will be moving
about on the pea rock in the storage yard; employee vehicles and
hauling trucks would not enter the pea rock storage yard which
should eliminate some of the dust problem.
Mr. Marier and Mr. Bohjanen voiced concern with regard to the
screening issue, stating that the City should remain firm on the
planner's recommendations (see P & Z minutes). Mr. Marier also
said that Hanson Block has attempted to locate in several other
communities in vain. He felt that the plant would also cover
too large an area in the Industrial Park.
Mr. Al Ross, from the audience, asked if the area could be black -
topped. Mr. Obernolte said that RCWD has indicated that they would
not likely recommend this, but that the owner would be willing if
RCWD agreed to it. •
Mr. Reinert stated that no action can be taken this evening due
to the absence of the other Councilmembers and therefore this public
hearing must continue at the next meeting.
MOTION: Mr. Bohjanen moved to continue the public hearing for
a rezone and conditional use permit for Hanson Block Company at
8:00 P.M., July 27, 1987. Mr. Marier seconded the motion which
carried unanimously.
CONSIDERATION OF FINAL APPROVAL OF D. ERICKSON'S FINAL PLAT
Mr. Schumacher stated that this item was placed on the agenda
assuming that all necessary documents would be in order, however,
since the necessary documents have not been submitted to date,
the Council may either take action contingent upon submitted
papers or wait.
The consensus of the Board was to consider the final plat after
all necessary paperwork is in place.
ENGINEER'S REPORT
CONSIDERATION OF AWARDING BIDS - RESOLUTION #29 -87 Mr. Stahlberg
reported that bids have been opened for the improvement project
for D.
