027 <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />September 22, 1986 <br />Page Eleven <br />IIs there any possibility of using a park road for an emergency exit. <br />Mr. Volk explained that the park roads are at the same elevation as <br />West Shadow Lake Drive and were under water this spring too. <br />Pat Smith asked if the County would participate in the cost of the <br />proposed improvement? Mayor Benson said the County will be asked <br />to participate but there is no guarantee. <br />Mr. Smith said he had a meeting with the RCWD engineer regarding con- <br />trolling the lake level. Mr. Schumacher indicated that RCWD is prepar- <br />ing a study of the area to determine if anything can be done to con- <br />trol the lake level. He will check to see what the status of this <br />study is. <br />If construction occurs, how will the residents get to their homes? <br />One possible entry is through the County Park. Mr. Smith suggested <br />waiting to start construction until the County has their entry com- <br />pleted. <br />Who would be assessed? Mayor Benson said all property owners along <br />West Shadow Lake Drive. <br />A member of the audience said he did not feel this was the solution <br />to the problem. It will not solve the flooding of the houses on the <br />horeline. <br />ItBenson said it appears that the residents proposal is not <br />realistic and the City should__look_for a viable alternative. The <br />City will be looking at a change to the proposal. <br />Mr. Marier moved to close the public hearing at 10:22 P.M. Mr. Rein- <br />ert seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Mr. Bisel moved to extend the meeting time until the business at <br />hand is finished. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion carried <br />unanimously. <br />CONSIDERATION OF THE PROPOSALS FOR AMBULANCE SERVICE <br />This item had been considered at the September 8, 1986 Council Meet - <br />ing and was tabled for further information. <br />Mr.Iā– leal Benjamin, Lino Lakes Fire Commissioner, read a letter regard- <br />ing this proposal from Terry Wold, District Fire Chief. The firemen <br />voted to retain. Health Central as ambulance provider and_felt it was <br />not necessary to base an ambulance service in either fire hall. The <br />fire chief had expressed satisfaction with the emergency training <br />f all the police officers and firemen. He would rather fine tune <br />he system already in place. At best, the fire chief felt these pro - <br />osals were premature. <br />
