Anderson, Clerk - Treasurer <br />ENGINEER'S REPORT - RON STAHLBERG <br />Resolution No. 07 - 88, Endorsing State Legislation <br />Providing Additional Funding for Transportation - Mr. <br />Stahlberg explained that the purpose of this resolution was <br />to support the highway funding recommendations of the <br />Transportation Finance Study Commission. The two primary <br />recommendations are that the gasoline tax be increased by <br />three cents per gallon effective June 1, 1988 and that the <br />share of the motor vehicle excise tax revenues going to <br />transportation be increased from the present 5% to 35 %. <br />Mr. Stahlberg also explained that the purpose of the <br />resolution was to garner support from cities for the <br />legislation. A lot of people were upset because of the <br />cutbacks last year in this area. <br />After further discussion, Mr. Reinert moved that Resolution <br />No. 07 - 88 be taken under consideration for study. Mr. <br />Bisel seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />CITY OF LINO LAKES <br />RESOLUTION NO. 07 - 88 <br />WHEREAS, there is a need for additional funding for high- <br />ways to preserve the existing roadways, recon- <br />struct roads as necessary, and complete the in- <br />complete system of roadways; and <br />WHEREAS, the 1981 Minnesota State Legislature directed that <br />the motor vehicle excise tax (MVET) be trans- <br />ferred to.
