He asked
Mr. Olson to speak to the Council regarding this matter.
Mr. Olson said he has been involved with the Fire Department
since 1984 and has been a member of the operations
committee, a District Fire Marshall and a member of the
budget operations committee. He has noted the rapid growth
in the Centennial area and sees a need for a five year
master plan, and plans for expansion of the department in an
orderly manner. He told the Council that he would be an
asset to the Council because he is familiar with the
operation of the department.
Mayor Benson noted that being a member of the Fire
Department may give Mr. Olson a view that is partial to the
Department. He asked how he would removed himself from this
and function impartially in both capacities. Mr. Olson said
that he may make a lot of decisions that may not be popular
but would be for the benefit of the entire district. Mr. Olson said this may create some
problems but did not feel it would compromise the fire
fighting capacity of the department.
Mayor Benson thanked Mr. Olson for attending tonight. The
Administrator was asked to contact the two current members
of the Commission as well as the alternate member and
detemine their level of interest in their positions.
DRAFT ZONING ORDINANCE AMENDMENT, NO. 01 - 88, SECOND
READING
Mr. Miller was unable to attend this evening and Mr.
Schumacher explained that at the first reading Mr. Miller
was asked to answer some questions regarding lot widths and
set backs for the R -1 and R -1X Districts. Mr. Miller has
prepared a memorandum dated February 17, 1988 addressing
these issues and noting that the Planning and Zoning Board
had considered this at their February 10th meeting.
There was discussion on what the minimum lot size should be
and how this would be administered.
