238
COUNCIL MEETING MARCH 14, 1988
where and this new subdivision will only add to
the conjested traffic situation.
2. The second concern is that the sewer cannot handle any
additional users.
3. The third concern is storm water runoff.
Roger Hofineister, 1558 La Motte Drive - Mr. Hofmeister said
his concern was the municipal sewer. He explained that the
last time there was a heavy rain, the lift station could not
handle all the water and the sewer had backed up to just
under the floor of his basement. He said he is scared to
death that sewage will back up into his basement.
Jim Heinz, 6918 LaMotte Drive - Mr. Heinz said the new homes
will be three to four feet higher than his home. He noted
that the Planning and Zoning Board said that they think that
the water will drain away from his property. Who will be
responsible if the P & Z think wrong? He also added that
the cul -de -sac is 290 feet longer than what the City
ordinance allows.
Bernard Ward, 1549 LaMotte Drive - Mr. Ward said the grade
and water runoff is his concern. He is the lowest house in
the area and he is concerned about whether the water will be
handled in the ditch because he could loose his driveway and
water could come right up to his house.
Glen Simonson, 1566 LaMotte Drive - Mr. Simonson said he has
not found any of the neighbors who feel this subdivision is
a good idea. He noted a portion of Mayor Benson's State of
the City Address where he said he would listen to the voices
of the people. He noted that there are nineteen or more
people here tonight who feel that this subdivision is poorly
planned, ill advised and they do not want it.
Jon Latcham, 6925 LaMotte Drive - Mr. Latcham felt the
proposed road entry into the new subdivision is nothing but
a drainage ditch. During heavy rains the ditches will not
handle the runoff. He referred to the heavy rains of 1974.
In addition most of the people who purchased lots on LaMotte
Drive thought the lot was a residential lot. (Mr. Latcham
was referring to Lot 1, Block 2 which will be used as street
right of way as an entry to the new subdivision) He noted
that everyone knows that eventially this land will be
developed but felt that what is proposed is ridiculous. Mr.
Latcham also noted that there was no community input by the
PAGE 5
1
1
