• <br />City Council <br />Legacy at Woods Edge <br />March 8, 2004 <br />is the primary access point to upper story residential units and provides an important <br />link between the parking areas and the community green. <br />Gateways <br />Entrances to the Woods Edge development should be marked by distinctive features <br />that announce your arrival at the Town Center. These locations are indicated on the <br />Regulating Plan. <br />Site Development Summary <br />The associated development summary provides the connection between the site layout <br />and the intended use and size of individual buildings. Buildings 6, 7, 10, 16 and 17 <br />represent the mixed commercial /residential structures. <br />Open Space <br />Three types of Open Spaces are proposed within the Woods Edge development. <br />These spaces provide recreation and relaxation space and functions as natural edges <br />to the development. In addition to on -site open space, the site provides unparalleled <br />opportunities for recreation due to its proximity to the Rice Creek Chain of Lakes <br />Regional Park, located immediately to the east and south. The project will provide <br />pedestrian /bicycle trail links into the regional park system. <br />Accessible Commons <br />The residential district must provide a minimum acreage of Accessible Commons equal <br />to 10 percent of the District land area. Located within the center of the townhome area <br />the commons is a neighborhood- oriented open space intended to provide limited <br />recreation and gathering areas. The specific size, location and improvement of the <br />commons area will be reviewed in conjunction with any proposed residential <br />development in this area. <br />City Parks & Plazas <br />An approximately one acre community green is provided for in the heart of the <br />development. This space provides for a public gathering area adjacent to the retail, <br />office, higher intensity uses within the Mixed Use District. <br />Natural Resource Area <br />Natural Resource Areas protect valuable natural features while allowing pedestrian <br />access along trails. The majority of the Open Space within the Woods Edge project <br />falls within this category. <br />As part of the site development, approximately 9 acres of the site, comprising <br />approximately 6.5 acres of wetland, will be preserved in its natural state.
