1
027
COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 25, 1988
Mr. Bisel asked about a special hunting season for deer. He
noted that cars are having a very good harvest this year.
Mayor Benson thanked Chief Campbell and Mr. Rodahl for
coming this evening. He asked Chief Campbell to monitor the
hunting season this fall and give the Council an update
early in the winter.
CHAIN OF LAKES REGIONAL PARK
Mr. David Torkildson, Anoka County Parks Director and
Margaret Langfeld, Third Distrist County Commission were
asked by Mr. Schumacher to appear this evening to outline
the proposed development in the Chain of Lakes Regional
Park. Mr. Torkildsori handed a map to the Council showing
the development. He noted that he had appeared before the
Park Board and outlined the development for them.
The development currently planned is for forty tent sites,
fifty six RV sites, underground water, dump station, self
contained rest rooms, shower rooms, laundry facilities and a
contact station. There will be a full time person with a
RV or trailer for emergency purposes and night monitoring.
Rangers will patrol evenings and weekends and there will be
full -time park help during the day.
Mayor Benson expressed concern that Lino Lakes Police will
be called during the night and he was also concerned about
fire calls. Mr. Torkildson explained that the park closes
at 9:30 P.M. and the rangers will patrol until 2:00 A.M.
The on -site person will contact the sheriff if there is a
problem or the Lino Lakes Police if there is a life
threatening situation. He noted that Bunker Park has the
same facilities and there has been no problems there.
Mayor Benson asked who uses these types of facilities. Mr.
Torkildson explained it will be people from the Twin Cities
area. They are allowed to stay only three days and expected
that since there is not an exit from 35W there will not be
many passing by using the facilities.
Mr. Reinert asked about the boat access to George Watch
Lake. Mr. Torkildson felt it will be used mostly as a conoe
access for the present since the lake continues to die. He
is hopeful that something can be done to restore the lakes
and creeks in this area soon. He also noted that the
shoreline will remain mostly untouched.
PAGE 7
