COUNCIL MEETING APRIL 10, 1989
Mr. Bisel said he hoped the local press would do a better job
of letting communities know what our representatives are
doing. They could print what house files will be considered
and when.
s
Appointment of Police Officer - The Council accepted the
resignation of Office Lewis at the March 27, 1989 Council
meeting. Chief Campbell is recommending that Brandon Young,
currently a Lino Lakes part -time officer be appointed to
replace Officer Lewis. Mr. Bisel moved to approve the
appointment of Brandon Young. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the
motion. Motion carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
Camp Ground Grand Opening - Mr. Schumacher noted that a grand
opening ceremony has been scheduled for April 22, 1989 for
the camp grounds at the Chain of Lakes Regional Park. The
Council asked Mr. Schumacher to determine the time and give
this information to all the members of the Park Board,
Planning and Zoning Board and the Council.
Award Bid for Wood Chipper - Mr. Volk told the Council that
land fills will no longer accept wood waste and there will be
no place to take storm damaged trees or Christmas trees. Mr. Volk
recommended that the bid be awarded to Vermeer Sales and
Service Company for $13,500.00.
Mr. Bisel asked if the City would rent the chipper to
residents. Mr. Volk said he preferred that residents bring
the waste to curb side or a general site and City employees
would operate the chipper. He has not determined if or how
residents would be charged for this service.
Mayor Benson asked if a chipping site could be established in
the Regional Park near the compost site. It was noted that
wood chips are allowed and Anoka County is looking at the
possibility of placing their own chipper near the compost
site.
Mr. Bisel moved to award the bid for the wood chipper to
Vermeer Sales and Service Company for $13,500.00. Mr.
Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously.
Resignation of Gordon Girtz from the Planning and Zoning
Board - Mr. Girtz has submitted a letter of resignation
explaining that he has received a promotion at his place of
employment-so that he will not have enough time to adequately
