142 <br />COUNCIL MEETING <br />MAY 22, 1989 <br />Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion carried unanimously. <br />Resolution No. 34 - 89 can be found at the end of these <br />minutes. <br />CONSIDERATION OF STAFF RECOMMENDATIONS ON REQUEST FOR <br />PROPOSALS, MUNICIPAL FACILITY STUDY <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that bids had been received from a <br />number of consultants and a committee consisting of Mr. <br />Miller, Mr. Schumacher, Mr. Volk and Chief Campbell <br />interviewed the two top firms submitting proposals. The <br />committee split on its recommendation for the Council; Mr. <br />Miller and Mr. Schumacher recommending the firm that was <br />innovative in design, Winson /Faricy and Mr. Volk and Chief <br />Campbell recommending the firm that was strong in the area of <br />space needs, Boarman Associates. <br />After further discussion, Mr. Bisel moved to approve <br />Winsor /Faricy. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion. Motion <br />carried unanimously. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />Mr. Schumacher explained that he has received a memorandum <br />for Anoka County indicating that their capital improvement <br />project list is as follows: County Road J (from Lexington <br />Avenue to Hodgson Road), Elm Street and the Lake Drive and <br />Highway No. 49 interchange. The memorandum did not address <br />any other interchanges (freeway interchanges) or 24th Avenue <br />(Elmcrest). Mr. Schumacher was requested to try and <br />convince the County that 24th Avenue is a priority. <br />The Grand Opening Ceremony for the Rice Creek Chain of Lake <br />Regional Park is scheduled for June 10, 1989. <br />Mr. Schumacher told the Council that his letter to Lino <br />Lake's State Senator and Representative regarding certain <br />issues before the legislature this past session did not have <br />an impact. Mr. Schumacher will get the voting record for <br />both representatives to see if they supported any of this <br />City's issues. <br />NEW BUSINESS <br />Consideration of Adding Centennial Bank to the List of <br />Approved Investment Institutions - Mr. Reinert moved to <br />approve this request. Mr. Bohjanen seconded the motion. <br />Motion carried unanimously. <br />Gambling License Request - Centennial Fire District - Mr. Dan <br />Volk representing the Centennial Fire District appeared <br />before the Council to request approval of a Gambling'License <br />
