COUNCIL MINUTES <br />AUGUST 27, 1990 <br />were outlined by Sheriff Wilkinson. He noted areas where <br />crime has appeared to lessen. He gave an example of an <br />assault crime investigated by the Lino Lakes Police <br />Department and an example of a drug related crime also <br />investigated by the Lino Lakes Police Department. <br />Sheriff Wilkinson noted some new services provided by his <br />Department. They include a canine service, increased jail <br />facilities, expanded SWAT team, Sheriff's Reserve and an <br />underwater recovery team. He also noted that a new computer, <br />system has been installed and he expects that it will be <br />several months before it is fully operational. <br />Mayor Bisel thanked Sheriff Wilkinson for updating the <br />Council and asked if there has been increased emphasis placed <br />on drug activities. . Sheriff Wilkinson4explained that his <br />Department is working jointly with a Task Force and <br />related activities has been a cooperative effort. <br />Mayor Bisel said he was concerned about crack moving into the <br />midwest and asked Sheriff Wilkinson if he saw anything moving <br />into Anoka County. Sheriff Wilkinson explained that some <br />crack has appeared in the County but he was not aware of any <br />crack houses. <br />Sheriff Wilkinson was asked his opinion regarding high speed <br />chases. Sheriff Wilkinson said the equipment is working very <br />well and the veterans organizations will be recognized for <br />this donation. <br />Mayor Bisel asked if the new computer in the Sheriff's office <br />will be compatible with the computer-system in the.I no, Lakes <br />Police "Department. Sheriff Wilkinson said he did not know <br />yet. He noted that the computer was not purchased with this <br />purpose in mind because of the different systems in each <br />community. Sheriff Wilkinson explained that the systems <br />could possibly be made compatible in the future. <br />Mayor Bisel and the Council thanked Sheriff Wilkinson for <br />coming this evening. <br />PUBLIC HEARING, CONDITIONAL USE PERMIT, SUBDIVIDE LOT WITH <br />ZERO LOT LINE, JAMES AND DIANE SCHILLING <br />Mayor Bisel opened the public hearing at 7:15 P.M. Mr. <br />Miller; explained that the Schillings subdivided land that is known as Wollen's;Estates.
